I need the user to specify his year of birth. I’ve got too much calendar this day. I need some kind of numeric, where I could set the range and the user chose one. How will such an element be called? EditText is not suitable.

    Such an element will be called NumberPicker or Spinner , depending on the preferred selection logic - scrolling or drop-down list. - pavlofff
