When I try to mount a partition through the interface of the explorer, I get an error

Failed to attach Data E

Error mounting / dev / sda9 at / media / qwertiy / Data E: Command-line `mount -t" ntfs "-o" uhelper = udisks2, nodev, nosuid, uid = 1000, gid = 1000, dmask = 0077, fmask = 0177 "" / dev / sda9 "" / media / qwertiy / Data E "'exited with non-zero exit status 14: The disk contains an unclean file system (0, 0). Metadata kept in Windows cache, refused to mount. Failed to mount '/ dev / sda9': Operation not permitted. Please resume and shutdown windows fully (no hibernation or fast restarting), or mount the volume read-only with the 'ro' mount option.

I try to execute in the command line (added -o ro ) to the command from the message above

 sudo mount -t "ntfs" -o "uhelper=udisks2,nodev,nosuid,uid=1000,gid=1000,dmask=0077,fmask=0177" -o ro "/dev/sda9" "/media/qwertiy/Data E"

but I get an error

fuse: failed to access mountpoint / media / qwertiy / Data E: No such file or directory

What am I doing wrong?
How to mount a disk for reading without rebooting into Windows?

  • Throw a space all the same? I understand that shielding. Plus, personally, I like to mount to /windows/{c,d} . So there is no conflict with the almost system folders /media and /mnt . And what will happen if you use mkdir -p /windows/e && ntfs-3g -o ro /dev/sda9 /windows/e ? - don Rumata
  • @donRumata, what's wrong with the space? He is taken from the name of the ntfs-section - the mint itself did so. And uh ... Is this the kind of system media folder? Why it can not be mounted? ntfs-3g is for what purpose? Hmm .. A folder in the media had to create yourself, or how? If so, who should remove it later? - Qwertiy
  • @donRumata, yes, created a folder in a different location and everything was mounted. Write the answer? It is desirable in more detail about the media . I expected that all the necessary folders are already there, and there it is generally empty. - Qwertiy
  • Yes, of course I will. Only later. - don Rumata
  • Is done. Kamenty above three? - don Rumata

You should try NOT to mount to /mnt and /media - these directories are used (in the same bubunt more media ) for temporary mounting of external drives. In older versions, there was a /media/метка-тома-или-его-uuid scheme. Now /media/$USER/метка-тома-или-его-uuid . All subdirectories are created and deleted by the OS automatically. Creating folders there is fraught with possible name and ugo conflicts. Even in the old manuals for 2007-2009 it was said that it is not necessary better. 99.9% will work this option:

godmode:

 sudo -i

Create a compulsory future mount point:

 mkdir -p /windows/e

Mount the section for reading / writing:

 ntfs-3g /dev/sda9 /windows/e

If you just need to look, then something like this:

 ntfs-3g -o ro /dev/sda9 /windows/e

If you need to mount at system startup, it works like this on ubuntu 12.04, 14.04, 16.04. The line is added to /etc/fstab :

 UUID=0B0525B62F08257C /windows/F ntfs-3g users,locale=ru_RU.UTF-8,nobootwait 0 0

UUID is recognized through sudo blkid

  • And you can still about the options that were used in the original team? About /mnt did not understand - I can simultaneously connect several flash drives. And let the comments remain :) - Qwertiy
  • @Qwertiy, "in the original" - in yours or mine? I moved from kamentov "as is." What exactly to clarify? - don Rumata
  • In the original, this is from the Explorer message: -o "uhelper=udisks2,nodev,nosuid,uid=1000,gid=1000,dmask=0077,fmask=0177" - this is what it means and whether you need to write it when you install it yourself. And another question, if we assign ro to this, then here, separated by a comma - o "вся-эта-куча,ro" or another parameter: -o "..." -o ro ? - Qwertiy
  • Added answer with fstab . Not all this garbage to tweak. In vanilla works with common parameters. About the -o syntax. You can do this: -o opt1 -o opt2 -o opt3 , or you can -o opt1,opt2,opt3 . - don Rumata
  • Something I did not immediately notice that in the ntfs-3g commands instead of mount . Is it something better? - Qwertiy

uhelper = udisks2

Those. Initially, you are not mounting the partition, but udisks2 , usually called from the file manager. It also creates directories in /media , and on error or during unmounting it deletes.

When attempting to mount it yourself with the mount command, the mount point must already exist. mount does not create directories. Delete the directory if necessary after work - also your task will be.
