I want to replace my not stable router, which is more serious. I have a web server, I study everything related to server administration. However, my current router throws out surprises, which significantly slows down the study of specific issues.

As it became known from the answers, there are mikrotik routers.
In one large large computer center, I turned to consultants several times; they do not know how routers are different.
In the showcase only asus, dlink and tplink. They said it was all there is. When I asked in the search for this store: mikrotik, the issue showed me at least 6 models.

We need a tool with greater capabilities than household, but affordable, of course, stability is the main requirement.

I tried to solve this issue on my own, but in the end I realized that there was no one to consult with.

Traffic and its essence is not important. I need practice, if the router does not fit my needs, I will buy another, now I want to expand my knowledge in this matter. However, at the moment the server broadcasts the audio stream and waits up to 500 visitors per day. Now it is not clear what will be on my server in the end, and what will be transferred to VDS.

  3. The essence of your traffic to the site. It is clear that the main share is the http protocol, but since you don’t know the trivial things above, then maybe you are multicast from the site and this is just a “site” for you - for things like multicast / dhcp, you need routers based on CPU, such packages they usually handle the "head";

All of the above is generally meaningless, if you have finished reading this item at all, because most likely any router from the “home” category will hang from little or less network activity to your site, if it exists at all. In the case, if this site is “for you” - any router will do at all, the main thing is not to advertise it because of the previously announced. And this is only about the choice of the router. I absolutely do not understand what you mean by "protection." DDoS protection? Nothing at home. Protection against hacking? No, with the help of a router, only a firewall. Moreover, if you are attacked with the help of ddos, most likely your provider will disable you.
