Good day.
Have a device: OrangePi PC H3
OS: Armbian

I can not increase the volume of music playback via mpd

user@orangepipc:~$ mpc status Ultra FM: Buzzhorn - Ordinary [playing] #1/1 7:56/0:00 (0%) volume:100% repeat: off random: off single: off consume: off

at the same time, practically nothing is heard in the headphones (conditionally, the volume is 1-5%). But, when playing through aplay, the volume is normal.

 root@orangepipc:/home/user# aplay /root/piano2.wav Playing WAVE '/root/piano2.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Stereo

In the alsamixer settings, all parameters are set to maximum, mpd config:

 audio_output { type "alsa" name "My ALSA Device" device "hw:0,0" # optional mixer_type "software" # optional # mixer_device "default" # optional # mixer_control "PCM" # optional # mixer_index "0" # optional }

Can you please tell me how to forcibly increase the volume on the device?

UPD: the playback volume for some reason depends on the format of the stream \ file. for example, mp3 sounds quiet, wav - at a great volume. Some radio stations are quiet, others are loud.

The question is slightly modified: how to adjust the same volume on all streams \ files?

  • Try commenting out the line with mixer_type. Then mpd will control the volume of the alsa device itself. - Mikalai Ramanovich
  • Thanks for the advice, but no changes have occurred. software, hardware, no parameter, no difference. - Andrew

I answer my own question:

trite but RTFM! in the MPD config there is an option:

volume_normalization

it should be "yes"

after rebuilding the latest version, including the above option, the issue was resolved. all streams have the same volume level.

thanks to all!
