How to get a thumbnail of a file - for example, if it is a photo, then (small photo), video (video frame) is similarly done in the standard android gallery, if it is a word document, then W icon, excel X icon, etc.

There is no method in the Android SDK with similar functionality, however you can write it yourself.
The logic of this method is quite simple: depending on the file extension, it will return the desired thumbnail. For Word and Excel, thumbnails can be set statically, to get previews of photos and videos, you can use something like Glide .
