I just want to add a variable to the browser cache and then when I need to pull it

You can put it in the local storage. Insert view: key, value

We put:

localStorage.setItem('var', 'value');

Pick up:

 localStorage.getItem('var');

Storage capacity is 5mb, data is available only on the client side, unlike cookies.
