Colleagues

The following problem was found, the new vim (version 8 and only the console application) does not want to read the files in Russian encoding. It also produces unreadable error messages (in Russian encoding). How can you overcome this trouble. In this case, gvim works correctly with Russian files and gives readable error messages. No similar problem was observed on the old version 7.3.

Thanks in advance Alexander

  • Russian coding is not. there is utf-8, cp1251, koi. And which axis? - KoVadim
  • Windows 7 64-bits - Alexander
  • probably console vim run with 866 encoding. And the text you have in cp1251. Most likely to help "set fileencoding = cp1251" - KoVadim
