I can not find information about the definition of support technology Cool'n'Quiet. I watched in AMD official manuals (by CPUID), watched sandpile, in Yandex and Google - either broken links or some info that contradicts other manuals (like bits 1 and 2 in EDX cpuid Fn8000_0007, in sandpile and AMD CPUID Specification completely different is written).

In general, I would be grateful if someone could shed light on this dark forest ... :)

  • I just looked at google how to enable Cool'n'Quiet support in linux, it was said to download the powernow-k8 driver. There are a few more powernow modules, but they seem to work with other options. And in the find_psb_table function in k8, if the frequency table could not be loaded, the message “check for BIOS updates and whether Cool'n'Quiet is enabled” is - Mike
