For the woocommerce store, the following pages are created by default: Showcase, shopping cart, my account, checkout. I have created another page for the main page of the store called the Home Page. I also created a new storefront template in a php file, which was first defined as the Template name: Showcase
I’m wondering if I do this sequence of actions:
1) in the admin panel “Settings - Reading.” In the option “On the main page to display” I select “Static page (select below)” and select “Showcase.”
2) in the admin panel "Pages" I select the "Showcase" page and in the side menu assign it the above php-template called "Showcase".
3) in the admin panel "WooCommerce" -> "Settings" -> "Products" -> "Display" - "Store Page" choose "Showcase"
as a result, the main page gives an error, and displays the template archive-product.php
And if in the 3rd step in the display you choose not "Showcase" but select "Homepage", then the new php-template "Showcase" is normally connected to the main page.
Explain please, why gives an error? those. for two pages: Showcase and Homepage assigned the same new php-template "Showcase"

In the setting of "WooCommerce" -> "Settings" -> "Products" -> "Display" - "Store Page" is set, which page will be displayed as WooCommerce store page. This is a special page generated by WooCommerce using the archive-product.php template.
Your steps 1-2 are correct, and step 3 is superfluous.

- How to understand a special page? those. Steps 1-2 Does this not apply to storefront settings at all? - word
- Not. Step 1 is generally just setting up the main one. Step 2 - setting up any page on which you want to display information from the store in its format. Anything can be considered the main page of the store, and the standard store page can not be arranged or even hidden. - KAGG Design
