To create a non-standard site element, insert an HTML field on the desired page. You can use javascript, html or css.
Open the site in Google Sites.
On the left of the site map, select the desired page.
Click the Edit icon.
Select an area on the page.
Click Insert Next HTML Field.
Add HTML, CSS or JavaScript code to it.
Click the SAVE button.
In the upper right corner, select "Save."
