Good afternoon, there is a share folder on the ubuntu server, I can't figure out how to get access to it from linux mint?

  • Through the network overview, do you see the server and share folder? - zombic
  • @zombic no I wrote "can not display network paths" - Varg Sieg
  • and the samba client is installed? (search samba and smb in repositories) - KoVadim

surely you have access to the server via ssh . then the easiest way is to mount the directory from the server, perhaps using sshfs :

  1. Install (once) the sshfs package on the client machine:

    $ sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install sshfs
  2. create (once) on the client machine a directory with an arbitrary name where you will mount the directory from the server:

     $ mkdir -p ~/ΠΊΠ°ΠΊΠΎΠΉ-Π½ΠΈΠ±ΡƒΠ΄ΡŒ-пустой-ΠΊΠ°Ρ‚Π°Π»ΠΎΠ³
  3. Suppose that you connect to the server, for example, using the ssh user@server command, and the path to the directory on the server, for example, /share . then you can mount it like this:

     $ sshfs user@server:/share ~/ΠΊΠ°ΠΊΠΎΠΉ-Π½ΠΈΠ±ΡƒΠ΄ΡŒ-пустой-ΠΊΠ°Ρ‚Π°Π»ΠΎΠ³
  4. do not forget to unmount the directory after you finish working with it:

     $ fusermout -u ~/ΠΊΠ°ΠΊΠΎΠΉ-Π½ΠΈΠ±ΡƒΠ΄ΡŒ-пустой-ΠΊΠ°Ρ‚Π°Π»ΠΎΠ³

You can see what is currently mounted, using df or mount programs.

  • This is a good way, but it has a "fatal flaw." Usually on the smb server for folders there are access rights and a special user. Creating a directory via ssh, then you need to correct the rights to files and directories. - KoVadim
