Hello.

I have a fleet of 9 servers, the most loaded in terms of traffic is the one on which nginx costs. When installing VPN, it was on this server that I rolled OpenVPN Server directly, assuming that it is the main one. The client-to-client parameter is specified in the server configuration.

A few days later the question arose - when server No. 4 communicates with server No. 5 through a VPN, do they send their requests through the server or communicate directly? The fact is that the main server already has more traffic than it needs, and if now the whole system also communicates through it, it may be worth moving the OpenVPN Server to some other machine inside the network to reduce the load from the main server .

Question - clients in OpenVPN communicate directly or through the server?

Thanks for answers :)

Hello. Understood and rechecked, the server participates as a proxy between servers in the VPN network.
