Hello. I want to put Linux on a computer, I find a lot of articles on the Internet, but everywhere it explains how to put it as a second system. In addition, I am not sure that after installation, according to such insights, everything will be without jambs (too much is just described).

Who for what article put Linux as the main system? What advice can you give to avoid problems during and after installation?

  • At one time, I installed Dibian, so when I returned to windows there was a problem, the Laptop did not see the HDD, I had to change the BIOS ( - Pavel
  • If we are talking about the desktop distribution, then why not just put it in a virtual machine? For example, in virtualbox there is a screen integration mode, so you will get linux without leaving windows. Very good conveniently. - nobody

Modern installation of some friendly Ubuntu is no more difficult than installing Windows. Insert a disk / flash and follow the instructions. If windows was previously installed, do not forget to format the partition with it when partitioning disks. But it’s harder to exploit Linux. - Alex Krass

  1. You write down the distribution kit on the USB stick or a pig.
  2. When it comes to this window, click where it is circled in blue in the picture. enter image description here Linux will install automatically. But after installation, it is desirable to do this: 1) write in the terminal

    sudo apt-get update

press enter and then enter

 sudo apt-get upgrade

and also press enter

In principle, everything is simple, here are the wiki for installing ubuntu , and here for arch linux . During the installation you will have the opportunity to put the system as the main or as an additional, next to the existing one, follow the instructions and everything will work out.
