Hello. I need to get a project in gitlab. The project has symlinkes both on the directory and on the files. My question is how does git work with links? Does the link to the file or directory matter? If I want to add them to .gitore, do I just add them as specific files?

git saves symlink as well as a blob file. When checkout, it will create it as symlink and it does not matter if there is an original file / directory.
You can add them to .gitignore as simple files by name.
