I use the qTranslate plugin for a multilingual Wordpress site. Suppose there is an entry in one language (English), but if you choose Russian, it will inform you that there is a version in English only. You can make it so that there is a redirect to an accessible language, or simply gives 404 error.

In qTranslate, the multilingual mechanism is based on shortcodes. In fact, in one post content is written in all languages. Those in fact 404 can not be.

Polylang has a different mechanism - each language is in separate posts. Those. possible and 404.

About 301 I will not tell you anything.

    • In your opinion which of these plugins is better? - Alexander Semikashev
    • Depends on the tasks. - SeVlad
    • The task is to make a website in two languages. - Alexander Semikashev
    • This is not a task, but a goal :) The site can have many tasks. In tch and with regards to the backend. Here you have one of the tasks - to make entries independent of each other. For this, Polylang fits better. But for others, qTranslate might be better. - SeVlad
    • That's right, I installed Polylang in the end, then what else you need is not there. As a result, I think to do a redirect with js. - Alexander Semikashev
