There is a bootable USB flash drive with Windows Server 2008. After installing it, you need to download and install many updates from the Microsoft site. On everything about everything, it takes an average of 2 hours (depending on the car). Now the question is: how can I speed up this process? What can be done?

If you need to install the OS on several machines, or, in principle, need frequent installation, I would think about integrating updates into the distribution (at the same time you can integrate the necessary drivers).

Depending on the status of the license / activation, there are several ways. For the organization, probably the best option would be DISM . It is easiest to download updates for integration, perhaps, through WSUS offline .

In order not to focus on these options only, I can also offer an option using sysprep + WAIK , as well as familiarize yourself with the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit .

      1. Updating a freshly installed OS always takes longer than subsequent regular updates.
      2. As an option to speed up updates, deploy your own local WSUS server.
