Initially installed Ubuntu 16.04 server with the icewm window manager and the slim desktop manager.

I want to add a graphical splash screen when booting to hide systemd boot notifications.

Where is this feature located and how is it configured?

    To set a picture on the bootloader screen:

    1. Register the lines in the / etc / default / grub file:

      GRUB_GFXMODE = 1280x768
      GRUB_BACKGROUND = "/ <Full path> / <Picture file> .jpg"

    2. Run (as root):

      update-grub

    3. Reboot

    It should be noted that grub does not understand all types of graphic files. Full list - in the manual. The image size is set according to the capabilities of the display driver used when loading. There, too, not everything is possible ...
