Help me please.

BIOS does not respond to a bootable USB flash drive. When I start the boot menu (I have the F8 key), the flash drive itself, but when I select it to boot, the computer simply ignores it and loads the installed OS.

I enclose some data:

  • OS: Linux Mint 18.3
  • Motherboard: M5A78L -M LX3
  • BIOS version: 1201
  • The flash drive is exactly working and bootable
  • no drive
  • I understand badly in bios

The problem is most likely not in the OS but in the BIOS, since before Linux there was Windows 10 and the problem was exactly the same.

Thank you in advance.

How did you record the image on a flash drive? - Eugene Gavrilov
  • I decided to check on another computer. He refused to open the flash drive, immediately suggested formatting, but on Linux I opened on my computer normally. I wrote down the image via the standard on Linux "Burning an image to a USB-drive". If this is wrong, then tell me how to do this on Linux. - Marian Vytak

Modern bios is usually configured on 8 or 10 windows. If they initially stood.

In BIOS, there is protection for the inability to boot from the USB flash drive in the secure menu. Next you need to reboot. And in the usb settings, switch one item. In general, I will not tell you step by step, because There are differences in the BIOS. But now, scoring in the youtube request immediately be the answer.

This is a video for changing hdd to MBR ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPqQp-TNpNE&feature=youtu.be ). And about the download is better to search by company name and model.

I had to put a driver launch point in bios on ASUS, and then this driver found all the flash drives. In general, each model has its own dances with a tambourine
