The maxlength attribute in the process of rendering just turn into the same attribute of the html input field. The browser will monitor the observance of the restriction set by this attribute, but nothing prevents the user from changing the attribute value or sending a request not from the browser.
And the <f:validateLength /> indicates to JSF that it is necessary to check the length of the input field value sent on the server side .
