Help correct the error. When installing with pip, an error is returned

Could not install packages due to EnvironmentError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: 'E: \ MyModules \ dist \ vsearch-1.0.tar'

I use

py -3 -m pip install vsearch-1.0.tar

I checked the name of the archive. The name is entered correctly. The current working directory is correct. What else could be the reason for such an error I do not understand. Thanks in advance for your help.

The .tar format does not seem to be supported. Most likely, the file format is .tar.gz , but since Windows hides the file extension by default, the file is shown as .tar . Try py -3 -m pip install vsearch-1.0.tar.gz (added .gz at the end). - hoefling

And, or else the .tar.bz2 format may be, it is also supported - if it doesn't work .gz , try with .bz2 . Well, the general advice is to disable hiding file extensions in Explorer. - hoefling
