It is necessary to extract data from an Excel file lying on Google Drive and use it in a script. How can I do that:

  1. I found options that xls can be converted to google sheet. And then read the contents. At first glance, it does not look elegant.
  2. Is it possible to immediately without creating a Google sheet file, read the contents of the xls file? It would be ideal to receive a certain array of arrays. Is this option possible? And if so, tell me how to do it.

    1 answer 1

At first glance, it seems that it is possible to create some kind of channel for continuous or continuous reading of data. But it is not. In order to connect to the data file even on the local computer, an entire driver is required. With Google Drive, everything is much more complicated, because inside it is much easier.

Therefore, the best option to solve this problem is to synchronize the data source and Google Table on the client side. So you do not need to upload a file to Disk, when you can upload data to a spreadsheet or table Fusion.

But at the same time there may be restrictions on working with the Disk (for example, the data file comes by mail or something like that), then there are no options other than disk conversion.
