I can not understand how to configure fonts.

  1. Find out what font is used in the console
  2. Find out what font size is used.
  3. Set the desired font and font size for the console
  4. Find out the set screen resolution

You would clarify what kind of console it says. And then maybe this is a hercules monitor and you need to sew up a character generator - KoVadim
  • @KoVadim I mean console through monitor or emulation via KVM & Proxmox - user8501933
  • Usually all this is simply prescribed in the system configs and no one is set out to request this information from the system ... so it is desirable to give the question at least some motivation, is it not just an idle interest ... and for definiteness which console is all does it mean, VGA'shnaya, framebuffer (with which framebuffer driver?) or X-terminal? ... for the sake of priming, for the debian you can read, for example man 5 console-setup . - Fat-Zer
  • @user8501933 do you have emulator in GUI or tty? - Hellseher
  • @Hellseher tty via monitor - user8501933

For Debian / Ubuntu:

 ~# dpkg-reconfigure console-setup

For distributions with systemd:

 ~# systemctl restart systemd-vconsole-setup.service

Useful utilities:

loadkeys — load keyboard translation tables setfont - load EGA/VGA console screen font fbset - show and modify frame buffer device settings

Files:

  • / usr / lib / kbd / consolefonts console fonts
  • /etc/vconsole.conf
  • / lib / kbd / consolefonts / available fonts (Fedora)
  • / etc / default / grub default GRUB settings for resolution and fonts
