Two options - either chrome is not friendly with nouveau, or just a little memory (I believe in it). - KoVadim

Error googled? Tried this method ?

It was similar with debian-based distributions, somewhere in June and July of this year. After updating while listening to music / watching movies, the system was hanging tight. Solved the problem by rolling back to an older version. Now I switched to elementary, a similar problem arose in it - I solved it by installing the latest version of NVIDIA proprietary firewood.

    This is a Nouveau video driver error. For details, check out bugs.freedesktop.org , especially: # 93629 , # 99900 and # 100567 (which are related to SCHED_ERROR / CTXSW_TIMEOUT ).

To debug freeze you can use the Magic SysRq key , for example:

    • Alt - SysRq - 9 - allows you to change the level of detail output.
    • Alt - SysRq - w - will display a list of all uninterrupted tasks.
    • Alt - SysRq - l - Shows the stack trace for all active processors.
    • Alt - SysRq - t - O Lists current tasks and information about them in the current console.
    • Alt - SysRq - p - Print the current registers and flags to the console.
    • Alt - SysRq - q - Show all active high resolution timers and clock sources.
    • Alt - SysRq - m - will display information about available and used RAM.

    Suggested solutions:

    • Update Ubuntu and the kernel to the latest version.
    • If the problem persists, the workaround is to install NVIDIA drivers , which replaces the Nouveau video driver.
