There are servers with powerful gpu, on them we render scenes. OS ubuntu 14.04. We used to work with a blender, that is, we received a .blend file from designers, then threw it on a server and started rendering. The team that did it before:

blender scene.blend --engine CYCLES -t 0 -b --render-output //results/

Now designers have moved to 3d max. What actions are needed to also after receiving the .max files (honestly I don’t know what they will throw off now) to start rendering?
I read that there seems to be no 3d max for tench. Reinstall the OS can not. Is there a container docker for these tasks? Or maybe other ways to start rendering?

I'm afraid the task is hardly solved without reinstalling the OS. Docker is no good because it is only for Linux. Theoretically, you can try to run gpu into a virtual machine with Windows, but I'm not sure - andreymal
  • There was a certain MaxToBlender . Ask to export. - Alexander Prokoshev
  • If you have Max running under Wine, you can do the necessary docker. - gbg
