Samsung TV 2016 saves info about channels in several sqlite files packed in zip.
The SRV table has a column srvName with the name of the channel. It seems that there should be a UTF-16BE encoding (I did not find Samsung's specs, there is only a ChanSort project on Github, which also deals with decoding such databases); but no, some kind of left dregs in this column. Each character (both Cyrillic and Latin) is encoded with 3 bytes. Here is an example:

 e1 94 84 E
 e3 88 84 in
 e4 80 84 p
 e3 b8 84 o
 e3 b4 84 n
 e3 b8 84 o
 e3 88 84 in
 e3 b8 84 o
 84 84 84 s
 e4 88 84 t
 e3 a0 84 and

What is this encoding? Maybe someone has a link to the specs?

  • And there is no little letters, ideally the entire alphabet? I tried to guess the patterns, but according to the available data it didn’t work out very well - andreymal
