Connecting via hdmi -> dvi-i On the windows system (the same laptop), the monitor immediately turns on and displays the desktop. In ubuntu no. But if you insert the hdmi cable, the monitor lights up but says that there is no signal.

  • Disable the second video card in BIOS (integrated if it is on board), install drivers from Nvidia (but you can see what they are, judging by the conclusion), and restart the PC after that - LFC
  • In Ubuntu, Mint, Debian, Manjaro and a few more, I connected the second monitor successfully with the Nvidia drivers. In Ubuntu there was a stub (though only 1 time), just because of 2 simultaneously enabled GPUs (then the problem was decided by disabling one of them) - LFC
  • xrandr пишет : HDMI-1-1 disconnected right, because it needs to be connected. In the link that I added there is an answer - LFC

You need to install drivers from the nvidia site. Choose Linux and download drivers with run extension. After downloading, the .run file must be made executable. But do not run.

Further, it is important that the versions of the drivers already installed do not coincide with the installed ones, otherwise there will be a conflict in the kernel. For example, download 418.54 and install 418.54. If so through the update system you need to install some other version of the driver.

Then run in recovery mode and go into Root mode. Run the downloaded file and if asked to overwrite existing files. After that, you need to reboot. Then immediately turn on both monitors. And you can customize them as you like. They will be visible everywhere.
