The distribution of Ubuntu 18.04 Kernel: x86_64 Linux 4.15.0-48-generic

The last 2 weeks at the beginning of the input began to disappear the first letters of the text. For example, if I try to enter in the terminal 'apt get update', then in the end it turns out to be 'pt get update'. The peculiarity is that there is always a focus on the text field. And there is no difference, the terminal window, browser text fields or ide.

Prior to this, like most ubuntu users on gnome, there was a problem with displaying the current layout in top bar.
And, as far as my memory serves me, this problem with the loss of a symbol began just after fixing this problem.

What can you advise in the search for reasons?

UPD: because during the problem the keyboard was inserted into a USB hub located in the monitor, which in turn via USB B (monitor) to the computer (USB A). I decided to reconnect the keyboard directly to the computer. Since then, no problems have been observed. There are 2 options, either fixed in the system, or a problem in the usb hub.
If we consider the problem of the hub, then it is logical to assume that once the keyboard is lost, then the mouse click should also be lost, which was not.

More inclined to the idea that the problem is in the USB hub.

  • Could there be a problem in the keyboard? Sticking another instead changes something? - Alexander Prokoshev
  • @AlexanderProkoshev, 3 keyboards tested. Also keyboard with PS \ 2 connector. Similarly - MiMEKiZ
