DJI introduced the folding drone Mavic Air

Every year, the Chinese company DJI releases new drones. For competitors, such an arms race is intolerable hell, and for enthusiastic pilots, each new announcement is akin to the New Year. What did the Chinese "Santa Claus" bring this year?

Rumors about the drone Mavic Air went for a long time, and yesterday, on Monday, photos of the device and some of the characteristics were merged into the network.

Functionally, the novelty is located between the collapsible Mavic Pro and the self-drone Spark. Air has a three-axis gimbal, his camera shoots 4K video at 30 frames per second, 32 megapixel panoramas. The gadget is equipped with a system of collision avoidance from three sides (only seven cameras). The battery lasts for a maximum of 21 minutes of flight, and the drone is compatible with DJI FPV glasses.

All these facts were confirmed. At the DJI press conference, the size and weight of Mavic Air became known: 168 × 83 × 49 mm when folded, 168 × 184 × 64 when unfolded, 430 g, respectively. The director of the North American branch of DJI, Mike Perry, put three drones on the stage at once, each of which fit in one pocket of his vest, the first sharing a place with a wallet and a smartphone.

The gadget supports automatic HDR mode, has 8 gigabytes of internal memory, its maximum range, with the new controller, is 4 km. Mavic Air supports all popular DJI smart shooting modes, including Active Track and QuickShot (shooting short videos for 10 seconds, appeared in Spark).

It is also equipped with an improved gesture control system. He "sees" the hands of the owner at a distance of 5.7 meters. The control range using a smartphone is about 80 meters.

The drone received a new assistance system for the APAS pilot, which automatically corrects its course and protects the clumsy newcomer from collisions. The maximum speed that the drone develops in sport mode reaches 68.4 km / h. At the same time, it resists wind gusts up to 10 m / s.

The cost of DJI Mavic Air starts from $ 799, the standard set includes a controller and a cover. FlyMore combo cost $ 999, two extra batteries and propellers are included.
